Mechanical Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1999.
Within a short span of time, the department has established itself as one of the best department of our college and got approval for additional intake of another 60 in the year 2006 – 07. The Department is adequately staffed with faculty strength of 24 staff members, meeting the AICTE norms (15:1 student faculty ratio). In addition, 12 non – teaching staff also supports the Department. The department is having 2 professors, 6 Associate Professors and 16 Assistant Professor.

To be reckoned as an esteemed institute that would provide value added Human Resource in the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering meeting the quality demands of Industry, Teaching Institutes and Research Organizations world wide who are the end users / final customers of the Human Resource.

To nurture the young talent available in the country and transform them into enterprising technologists so that they contribute immensely to the technological development and prosperity of the country and provide dynamic leadership to others.
Objective of the Department
To Excel in all aspects of academic activities and to develop creative engineers with a stature that enables them to provide leadership, credibility, with emphasis on rural development and to accept extension and public services as a third dimension to their role in addition to education and discipline.

Dr. L. lakshminarayana did his B.E (Mech), M.E (Heat power Engg.) from REC, Warangal and Ph.D (Heat transfer, Mech) from lIT, Kanpur. His career in academics spans more than 35 years. He has worked with prestigious institutions like IISc., BITS Pilani, BHEL (R&D) and was the Principal of an Engineering Colleges before joining VJIT.

The department regularly conducts curricular & co – curricular activities.
The department is regularly conducting the co – curricular activities like Technical Quiz, workshops, National Level technical symposium (VIDYA), seminars, Group Discussions, PDP, Paper Presentations, Guest Lectures by external experts, student’s seminars for the betterment of the students. The Department will be organizing 3 guest lectures per semester from the external resource persons.
Inter Institutional Activities
The Department has memorandum of understanding (MOU) with CETE, Physitech Pvt Ltd., Future tech and chip Industry to train the students on Designing and Manufacturing of academic Experiments.
R & D Activities
During Pre – Final year study of the course, students are advised to submit a mini project in their areas of interest and are evaluated for the performance. The students are also being taken to various industries situated in and around the institution for Industrial exposure.
Industrial Visits
Our students are taken to local Electronic Industries Manufacturing Standard and Non – Standard Instruments, Components and Systems to make classroom / theoretical teaching meaningful.
Jawaharlal Knowledge Centre (JKC)
The Department is having JKC Centre to train the students on communication skills, soft skills and personality development.
Social Responsibilities
Students of Electronics and Communications Department along with students of other department of the institution take part in vigorous campaign on the noble cause of donating blood and liberally donate blood when the institute arranges “Annual blood Donation camp”. Our students adopted a school in rural village (Venkatapur) for training and upgrading the skills of the students.
