A Two-Day National Workshop on Active Learning Methods & Project-Based Active Learning Methods in Engineering on July 14&15, 2014

The National Workshop was organized by the Dept of Mechanical Engineering. The Anurag Group of Institutions faculty and KG Reddy College of Engineering have been benefited with the National Workshop on Active Learning Methods and Project-Based Learning Methods in Engineering held on July 14 and 15, 2014.

The Resource Person Dr Siva Krishnan, is from IUCEE, faculty expert, Indianapolis, USA. On July 14, the session started with formal inauguration and the dignitaries were Prof Krishna Vedula, Executive Director, IUCEE, Dr Siva Krishnan, and Dr P Rajeshwer Reddy, Chairman, AGI. Prof Krishna Vedula highlighted the importance of Project-Based Education in Engineering Curriculum.

In the 4 sessions of two days, Dr Siva Krishnan, trained the teaching fraternity in 1. Handling students’ misconceptions. 2. Balancing the Need –Based Approach such as Just in Time Teaching 3. Creating the Classroom Content and designing the Assignments 4. Highlighting the techniques to introduce the Projects to face the challenges 5. Differentiating the Project-Based and Problem-Based Learning Styles. The 4 sessions enriched the participants with various techniques that a teacher to follow in the classroom to get a desired learning outcome.

Seminar on Project-Based Learning in Engineering Education: Interactive Seminars on July 14, 2014

The Interactive Sessions have been organized for the students of AGI with Prof Krishna Vedula, Executive Director and Prof Siva Krishnan, IUCEE faculty expert, Indianapolis, USA. The students have presented the IUCEE – S P E E D initiatives to the dignitaries. Prof Krshna Vedula expressed his satisfaction with regard to project works that are going on in the college and interacted with the students on various topics related to the Global challenges of an Engineer. Prof Siva Krishnan in his session interacted with the students and enquired about their projects.

Students have shown their projects in the Library Automation, Tesla Turbines, Foot-Power Generation, Trash Vaporization, etc. He has given his inputs and encouraged the students to take up the Project works to develop their critical, analytical thinking and creative abilities. Dr P Rajeshwer Reddy, Chairman, AGI expressed his readiness to provide all the facilities that the students require to conduct their project works in the group colleges. All the students were benefited with these interactive sessions and rejuvenated their interests with these two interactive sessions.
