The Department of Physical Education at Vidya Jyothi Institution of Technology started in the year 2003. To achieve a healthier lifestyle while coping with the pressures of studying, one needs to be healthy both emotionally and physically. As a part of this process, VJIT emphasizes the importance of sports and considers them as an integral part of the curriculum. The physical directors have been putting in their best efforts in imbibing knowledge and imparting skills to students and faculty in various sports and games, developing them to higher levels of expertise.


Today sports and games have become a part of student development at VJIT. Till date the department of physical education has produced 153 university representatives at national level and has won many major tournaments in various sports and games.

Mrs. Sunitha Anand, the iconic women cricket player formally inaugurated Phoenix-2k15 and declared the meet open, in the gracious presence of Director, Principal, HODs, Physical Directors and Student participants on 23rd January 2015. There after, sports organizing secretary welcomed all the competitors and led them to there respective play ground, for the games to commence. Cultural events went on in full spring. Extraordinary talents bloomed in the grounds. The entire campus rose-up-to the occasion with each one in high spirits to compete, to support, to cheer, to win…..

Phonenix2k15 on 24th January started with extra enthusiasm to proceed for the day long competitions unfolding winners at the end of the day. The dusk of 24th January 2015, saw the culmination of mixture of emotions in the Ground and off the Ground Mr. Revanth, the super singer accompanied by Mrs. Sameera enthralled the gathering with most popular numbers in Hindi & Telugu, audience danced to their tunes, the singers in their singing spree, energised and charged up the audience.

After the unstoppable performance of the celebrities valedictory function of Phoenix 2k15 began Dr. Mazoor Hussain, Principal, JNTU sultanpur, did the honors as the chief guest along with Director, principal on the dais Trophies, Cups, Medals, Certificates for all the winners runners and participants were given away by the chief guest.

3rd State Level Inter-Engineering College Sports Fest-2013

3rd STATE LEVEL INTER-ENGINEERING COLLEGES SPORTS’ FEST – 2013 covering events Volley Ball (Men and Women), Basket Ball (Men and Women), Throw Ball (Women), Table Tennis (Men and Women) and Chess (Men and Women) was held on 13th and 14th September, 2013. The Opening Ceremony was held on 13th September, 2013 at 11 a.m.. Chief Guest of the Inaugural Function was Padmashri S. M. Arif garu, Dronacharya awardee, National Badminton Coach. The Guest of Honour was Dr. P. Surendra Reddy, Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, Osmania University. More than 100 teams registered for various events. The campus looked colourful and bright with players sporting different coloured sportswear. More than 1000 students turned up on the first day. Festivity was visible all over. It went on from morning to evening on both the days. Two days of festivity came to an end with the closing ceremony on 14th September at 5.30 p.m. The Chief Guest of the Valedictory was Shri G. Kiran Reddy garu International Volley Ball player, PRO, APSRTC. Guest of Honour was Dr. N. S. Dileep, Professor of Physical Education, Secretary, Sports Council, JNTUH.

Time just passed by these two days. Cheering and clapping marked the Prize Distribution Ceremony. Ecstasy reached its peak with the bursting of crackers at the end of the programme. The Organizing secretary, Mr. J. Ramesh Babu, Principal Dr. A. Padmaja, Senior Administrative Officer, Mr. R. Venkata Chalam expressed great happiness over the stupendous success of the Sports Fest. Dr. P. Rajeshwar Reddy garu, Correspondent, VJIT was present all through watching all the events and enjoying the matches. He too was jubilant over the wonderful outcome.


Annual Sports

Every year sports, games and cultural activities are organized for the students. Naturally the student community enjoays each and every moment of the competitions with active participation and spirited performances. Faculty members of the institution also participate actively in the sports and games competitions. Every year celebrities from the industry are invited to Crescendo – the College Annual Day Celebration to share their experiences.

Inter-University Tournaments

  • Boys and girls are trained and encouraged to participate actively in the University team selections and the students selected to represent the university teams are encouraged with all facilities to participate in the South-zone inter-university and All-India inter-university tournaments.Apart from these regular activities, our players participate in many invitation tournaments and inter-college tournaments in and around the state.
  • Mr. P. Kranthi Kumar, ECE IV Year Participated in All India Inter University Chess Central Zone Tournament held at Madhya Pradesh. He has secured 2nd place. (JNTUH Chess Team).


International Chess Championship-2013-14

P. Kranthi Kumar, ECE IV Year Participated in 4th Kandy Open International Rated Chess Championship-13 held at Sri Lanka. He has secured 4th Place. 


Zonal Tournaments

As a part of the JNTU zonal tournaments our college teams of boys and girls participate actively in all the sports and games every year. VJIT has won many events at JNTU zone-c tournaments for every year.

Annual Sports Report 2012-13

This academic year 2012-13 has brought loads of laurels and glory to Vjit through sports and games. It gives me an immense pleasure in presenting you the highlights of the year and some of the key players of the Institution who have performed extremely well at University, State, National and International levels.

Highlights Of 2012-13

  • The most prestigious achievement for the year comes through Mr. P. Kranthi Kumar of ECE-III Yr who secured Gold medal in JNTUH Central Zone Chess tournament and represented JNTUH University Chess team at South-Zone and All-India Universities meet and participated at International Grandmaster Chess Tournament held at Chennai.
  • In a world where Cricket has become the craziest and competitive game, Mr. P. Rahul Kumar of MECH-IV Yr could secure his position, represented JNTUH University Cricket team at the South-Zone Inter-University Cricket tournament held at Osmania University has won bronze medal.
  • It is a proud movement to announce that VJIT bagged the Cricket Champions for every consecutive year at various State level Inter Engg.College Cricket tournaments.
  • Our Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball and Badminton teams proved to be one of the strongest teams in JNTU Hyderabad by securing winners/runners positions at the various tournaments.
  • Ms. P. Dakshendar of Mech.-II Yr represented JNTUH University Baseball team at the All India Inter-University tournament.
  • At the JNTUH Central-Zone Badminton tournament, Mr. N. Maheshwaran of EEE-III Yr secured Gold Medal in Men’s Javelin Throw Event and has represented JNTUH Athletics team at the All India Inter-University meet.
  • Mr. B. Kishore of EEE-I Yr represented JNTUH University Kabaddi team South Zone Inter University Tournament held at Chennai.
  • Mr. B. Rakesh of CSE-IV Yr Secured Gold medal in JNTU Zone-c Badminton Tournament.
  • Mr. Eswar Goud of ECE-IV Yr Secured Winner position in JNTU Zone-c Volleyball Tournament.

Highlights Of 2011-12

  • One of the milestones for the Department of Physical Education at Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology in this academic year was “2nd State level Inter Engineering Colleges Tournament 2K11″ – a two day inter-collegiate sports festival. Around 900 participants from over 54 engineering colleges have taken part in this festival and it was a grand success securing lots of appreciation from players and physical directors of other colleges and also from the national referees.
  • Mr. P. Rahul Kumar of Mechanical III year secured bronze medal at south-zone inter-university cricket champion’s tournament.
  • Two out of main players of the JNTUH university baseball team were from our institution. They are Mr. P. Dakshendar of Mech 1st year and Mr. Sai Sharan of Mech 1st year.
  • Mr. P. Kranthi Kumar of ECE-2nd year secured fourth placed at the 1st International FIDE Rating (Below 2000) Chess Tournament for Indian Overseas Bank Chess Trophy held at Gachibowli, Hyderabad and represented the state at the nationals.
  • Mr. N. Maheshwaran of EEE-2nd year secured Gold medal at the state level Athletics (Javelin throw) championship.
  • Mr. K. Sai Charan of Mechanical-II Yr was a part of the JNTUH University Fencing team which participated in the All-India Inter-University Fencing Championship held at Anna University.
  • Our college won the many events at the university C zone tournament standing 1st among 45 colleges which participate out of 72 colleges in the zone.
  • It is a proud movement to announce that VJIT bagged the Badminton (W) Champions for every consecutive year at JNTU Zone-C tournaments. The Two main players are Ms. Divya of ECE III Yr and Ms. Bindu of ECE III Year.
