Innovative Teaching Techniques

Teaching is an art and science. Teaching is a process of imparting knowledge and skills. It is a
systematic process based on some educational objectives to communicate.

The following innovative teaching methods are being adopted:

Socio constructivist perspective

Social constructivist perspectives focus on the interdependence of students in the co-construction of knowledge.

IDEA: To play a video related to a topic and  make students answer a few questions related to it.

 IMPLEMENTATION:

Playing a video on how a klystron works?

 Questionnaire:

  1. What is transit time?
  2. What is the operating principle of two cavity klystron?
  3. How does bunching occur in a klystron?
  4. What is buncher cavity?
  5. What is catcher cavity?
  6. What is cavity resonator?
  7. What is the difference between two cavity klystron and reflex klystron?
  8. What is velocity modulation?
  9. What is current modulation?
  10. What are the applications of klystron?

OUTCOME: Better understanding of a topic by students.

Classroom Discussion

IDEA: To make students discuss a given topic.

IMPLEMENTATION: Explained different configurations of transistor.

Students are divided into three groups. Each group is assigned a name based on configuration of transistor (i.e. CE, CB,CC).Students are asked to give their views on the concept.

OUTCOME: Active participation of students. Remembering the topic for a longer time.

Short presentation

IDEA: To make students give a presentation on a given topic

IMPLEMENTATION: The following topics are given to some students.

  1. Positive clipper circuit

The Team Sasyaveda is a group of 10 students of ECE headed by Prathyuma, under the mentorship of Dr K. Vasanth, HOD & Professor ECE, are working on the Project on Recycling Plastic bottles. The project was funded Rs. 25,000/- by Department of ECE.The Project focuses on Plastic pollution which is a major problem in day to day life as it takes more time to degrade and disturbing the ecosystem.  Plastic Pet bottles are the known source of plastic waste that appears in front of us every day. Rather than recycling, these plastic bottles can be used to build a poly greenhouse instead of a regular green house and vegetables like tomato, leafy vegetables can be cultivated. The Set of sensors are placed around the growing plants in golden angle and vital parameters such as light, temperature, humidity, soil moisture, amount of water required for the plant to grow is acquired and stored in the cloud using IOT. Later the data from the cloud is used to perform Data Analytics so that we can visualize under a constrained environment (plastic pet bottle-based poly green house) how a plant is grown. This will pave path for people performing terrace farming to use the proposed greenhouse setup and use IOT and Data analytics to do farming with limited light and water. The proposed experiments are performed in Hyderabad, Telangana on vegetables like Tomato and leafy vegetables.

A group of three students from ECE III year have developed the project Disha An Automatic Human Body language recognition. It monitored suspicious activities of a man who act as threat for women safety. The project was funded by the Department of ECE, VJIT.
