The Civil Department has organized a Two Day Study Tour to Kaleshwaram Project. The Kaleshwaram Projects main aim is to make the Telangana state as a drought proof land with rich crops, by harnessing the flood water of river Godavari. The Project provides water for the irrigation and drinking water to the people of Telangana. It is proposed to divert 160 TMC of

Godavari water to irrigate 45 lakh acres of farm land.

The Study tour aims to make the students understand the operation of the project and in their visit were shown LMD (Lower Manair dam) it’s construction across the Manair river and the storage capacity of the Dam. The water storage acting as a balancing Reservior for Kakatiya Canal and how it regulates the flow of water. They were also presented the 20 gates with a size of 50ft ×24ft it consists of. The total capacity of the reservoir is 24 TMC. The students also visited Sundilla Barriage, also called as Parvathi Barrage which has a total capacity  of 8.83 TMC, consisting of 74 gates and 41 spill ways. The students understood the water for Sundilla is received from Annaram through pump house and these water further enters to Yellampali. Next the students visited to see Kanepalli Pump House, the first pump house where water lifts from Godavari which contains 17 pumps and 34 pipes, of which 11 pumps were working and 6 were under construction. It discharges 660m³/ sec of water. Sri Ranaganaka Reservoir, also called as Imamabad storage, acts as a balancing Reservior, with a Storage Capacity of 3 TMC.  It receives water from mid Manair and these water further is sent to Siddipet. The reservior bund has a length of 8.83 mts.
