Faculty Orientation Programme on 24th& 25th June 2014

A two day orientation programme was organized at VJIT on 24th& 25th June 2014 for the faculty. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp followed by welcome address by Dr. A. Padmaja Principal, VJIT and a message by Dr. P. Venugopal Reddy, Director, VJIT, who emphasized upon the importance of faculty orientation programme.
Ms. SandhyaKode, Director Enhance Education IIIT, Hyderabad inaugurated the first day morning session by speaking on “Transforming Education using Active Learning and Learning Technologies”.She enlightened the faculty on Active Learning, Learning by doing and how to utilize POGIL in the class room.She has also encouraged faculty to write e-content in their respective disciplines.
The second speaker of the first session Mr. Lion Nagaraju, Spoke on the topic “Effective Communication Skills”.He emphasized on four aspects of Communicative Language Teaching viz., Language Skills, Body language, Teaching Skills and Interactive skills.
The second session was by Dr M Anil Ramesh, Director Siva Sivani Institute of Management, Hyderabad. He enlightened the faculty on 26 Qualities to be a good teacher.
The first day programme ended with an adress byDrRajeshwar Reddy, Secretary and Correspondent VJIT. He motivated the faculty to plan and prepare perfectly to become efficient teachers and involve in research publications. He further advised faculty to create fearless environment for the students by developing good rapport with them.
Second day session began in an enthusiastic spirit with a lecture by Mr. Daniel Raj, Chief Executive Officer, Smart Skills Lab on “Ethical Values” who detailed about the importance of ethical behavior which is a key trait of a good teacher.
This was followed by a lectureof V.S.V.LaxmiRamana, Professor, VJIT, on “Effective Principles of Teaching and Learning”. She stressed upon the need to change the teaching methodology to make students better learners.
In the afternoon session Dr. P. Venugopal Reddy, Director, VJIT gave a presentation on “How to write and Publish a Paper”.
The programme ended with a tremendous response from the teaching fraternity with a healthy interaction. The orientation programme was very beneficialto the teaching fraternity and renewed their belief and enthusiasm to be more effective inspirational teacher. As the proverb says“Sharpen the saw, before cutting the tree”.
