‘Go-green Ganesha’ program was organized by VJIT NSS and HITA. the program was inaugurated by Director Dr. P. Venugopal Reddy and Principal Dr. A. Padmaja.
The program was conducted with the idea of celebrating Ganesha Chaturthi in an eco-friendly manner. The students had performed cultural activities to create an awareness on the importance of protecting our environment by avoiding the chemical based colours used in the making of Ganeshas. The students have also made organic Ganesha idols and distributed to the Management, Faculty and students, with an aim to keep the environment safe, by adopting eco-friendly ways to make the idol of Lord Ganesh, ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi.
The event helped the students to go beyond learning to make the idols, to protect our roots of culture and tradition. The program saw that the awareness of immersing PoP idols with chemical-based paint in water bodies creates a bigger inorganic chain, aquatic life too gets destroyed and to protect the environment by opting for eco-friendly Ganesha idols that can dissolve in water, grow into trees, or can be recycled.
