ALUMNI MEET 2014:VJIT MBA Dept participated on grand scale in the alumni meet organized by the management of VJIT on 22nd Feb 2014. Consequent on the sincere and great efforts put forth by the staff of MBA Dept in a span of short time, around 30 number of former students presently working in various prestigious organizations like HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank ,IBM, Google, Amazon, ICICI, Broad ridge, well forgo, Cognizant, HDFC etc. participated in the reunion meet. During the visit of the alumni to MBA Dept former students expressed high happiness in sharing their precious moments of their reunion. Also they expressed their utmost pleasure in seeing the development of college campus. Management provided lunch to all the participants and felicitated former students with mementos. Sri V.S. Sarma, HOD of MBA Dept, while addressing the former students requested them to extend helping hand to their junior MBAs by giving reference letters for placements in their organizations when ever opportunity arises. GUEST LECTURE:MBA Department arranged a guest lecture by Prof. C. Padmavathi, Professor, IBS on the topic “Developing trends in Financial Reporting” on 04.02.201
She covered various aspects such as transparency, relevancy, objectivity and comparability in Financial Reporting. She shared her ideas on the importance in adopting International Accounting Standards in the place of Indian Accounting Standards while preparing Financial Statements and their reporting particularly in view of liberalization of Indian economy and Global disinvestments. She stressed the need for adopting INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL REPORTING STANDARDS (IFRS) and the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in preparing and reporting the Financial Statements to the various interested parties spread all over the globe.As a part of her lecture she focused on the proactive role of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in the Indian context. She also highlighted the recent changes in the Companies Act (including Schedule VI) relating to the preparation of financial statements and their reporting.The session is very much useful to both 1st and 2nd year students as these aspects are covered in their syllabus.The programme was coordinated by Ms. Srujana, Asst.
