National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28 February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman on 28 February 1928. The theme of the year 2018 is “Science and Technology for a sustainable future.”
The H&S Dept, VJIT has celebrated the Science Day on 10 March, 2018 with its jubilant and enterprising students, who participated in various competitions that uphold and validate the theme. Prof. Rajendra Prasad, HoD, proudly inaugurated the event. Paper and poster presentations were two of the most effective competitions in which the students tried to decipher the need of application of science and technology in the present as well as in the future to facilitate a peaceful life for humans. They also exhibited their immense knowledge and skill set in designing science models that could alleviate most of the current perils that the globe is witnessing. Rocket fling, E- essay and Digital Collage were the other competitions that the students actively took part in with zeal and enthusiasm.
In the valedictory function, our Director, Dr. Venugopal Reddy congratulated the collaborative work of the students. He augmented on the importance of possessing scientific knowledge and emphasized on keen student participation, with a fusion of technology and human touch. Following the exhilarating note by the Director, our cherished HoD, Prof. Rajendra Prasad accentuated that the students should focus on the deep-rooted basics of sciences, understand the concepts and apply the same in building technology. He labored the point that he, with the students and the staff will man the department as a center of excellence.
Prizes were awarded to the winners for their remarkable achievements in multiple categories.
The event ended on a grand note with a vote of thanks by Ms. Yamini (Asst.Prof) thanking the student fraternity and faculty Co-ordinators of the event, Ms. Sree Devi and Ms. Anuradha for their relentless efforts in making this event a grand success.
