One Week Online Short Term Training Programme (STTP) On “SciLab: An Effective Open Source Tool for Computer Vision and Machine Learning” was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology (VJIT) in association with AICTE from 01.03.2021 to 06.03.2021. The One Week Online STTP held totally twelve sessions.

The main objective of the STTP is to help build an understanding of how to solve real world problems using Machine vision and Computer Vision with examples. The STTP provided theoretical and practical training that enabled immediate and effective participation in Computer Vision and Machine Learning. The STTP introduced fundamental concepts of machine learning, covering an overview of machine learning algorithms and their applications. The training comprised of a series of lectures and practical exercises where the participants obtained deep insights of machine learning, helping them to apply it in practice or as a foundation to a deeper study in this area. Another major objective of the STTP is   to increase the awareness of Open Source Software among the participants.  The STTP enabled the students and faculty of various colleges/institutes/universities across India to use Open Source Software tools for all their computational needs, thereby improving the quality of instruction, learning and to avoid expensive licenses of computational tools for research and education.
