A visit to kaleshwaram project was organized by the Civil Engineering Department for III Year students on 25th and 26th January,2018. They have visited Kannepalli Pump House, India’s largest Pump House, which pumps water towards the other barrage. The students visited one Link (Annaram Barrage & Sundilla Barrage) out of the 7 links. The students were illuminated on the Kaleshwaram Project and its operation. The students noted that with this project around 35 acres of land will be irrigated, the lifting of water from the barrages is done up to Hyderabad, and the construction is done in forest lands. As a part of the study tour the students also visited ‘Triveni Sangamam’ where three rivers (Pranahitha, Godavari and Saraswathi) meet at one place and the historical temple of lord “Kaleshwara Muktheeshwara”. The students attained practical knowledge about Lift Irrigation, and gained some practical knowledge about the irrigation project, learning practically how lifting or pumping is done.
