EVENT SUMMARY :

Slums in the urban parts of our country are found in 65 percent of the Indian cities. The residents of slums stay in decrepit conditions which are not suitable for human habitation. They are often ignored and left with no way out.

On this note, we, the team of Street Cause VJIT, surveyed a slum in Durganagar, Amberpet and found that one of its major problems was that it lacked proper washroom facility. Though there are common

washrooms that are present in the slum, only one of it was fit for use.To avail the washroom, the residents of the slum had to wait for long hours.

As a part of ‘The Slum Sanitation Project’, we took up the initiative to reconstruct all the washrooms in the slum by providing new commodes and plumbing material in all the washrooms. We also restored the electric connections and all the doors of the washrooms have been repaired and painted. The residents of the slum now have comfortable and clean washrooms at their disposal.
