The world has made unprecedented advances, but no country has achieved gender equality; So, Let’s make 2020 count for women and girls everywhere. The IWD-2020, at VJIT seized the Celebrations with the theme “Each for Equal”. The partying had several events organized on 7th March 2020, for all the VJIT women to celebrate their achievements, and contributions marking International Women’s Day. The festivities commenced with the auspicious Deepa Prajwalan by the Dignitaries.
The IWD had the Chief Guest, Dr. LAKSHMI RATHNA MARAKANI, M.D, D.G.O, F.I.C.O.G, P.G.D.M.L.S, Divisional Director and H.O.D to Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Nice Hospital for women, children and newborn, Hyderabad and Senior consultant at APOLLO Cradle, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Dr. Lakshmi Rathna M, in her speech, expounded the importance of women’s health and the various challenges women face every day. The Guest of honor was Ms. Sree Latha, Independent HR Consultant, Hyderabad & Bangalore. She is a well-known and prominent speaker on topics related to Women Empowerment, Leadership, Career Development, Diversity, Inclusion & Equity and HR at various Corporate Organizations and multiple forums. Ms. Sree Latha in her address explicated that it is important to recognize the contributions of women in different facets of life, whether personal or professional as women are the source of the indomitable spirit, determination, dedication and inspiration for their families and our nation. Director Dr. P. Venugopal Reddy, on the occasion of IWD, expressed his admiration on the achievements of women and shared his opinion that today’s women understand their strengths and abilities and step out to contribute to the society and the world. Dr. A Padmaja, Principal in her message said that every woman is special, whether she is working at home or at the office or doing both, women had excelled in a number of fields, though there are many challenges and hurdles in a woman’s life, women need to strive to overcome all barriers and advised the VJIT women to work to a future, where every woman gets what she deserves – equal treatment under conditions of equality. The IWD-2020, Coordinator Dr. Srujana, Head EEE Department had expressed her pleasure in organizing the event and shared how women are excelling in all fields they have chosen to take up.
The event had been a very exciting segment with the girls from all departments performing in cultural activities. The students and staff participated in the event with much pomp and gaiety by their wonderful participation. The event showcased the potentiality and creativity, exhibiting the hidden talents of both students and staff. As a continuation of the VJIT tradition to honor women for their contribution to the institution Mrs. Kamalamma, attendant, was felicitated for her sincere conduct in carrying her duties. The students have also organized fun games for the lady faculty.
