A One Week Workshop on ‘Total Station’ is organized by the department of Civil Engineering VJIT from 5th to 11th March, 2018 in collaboration with “UNIQUE SURVEY SOLUTIONS”. This workshop provided the opportunity to the students to use the Total Station for Surveying Solutions. The students were given inputs on uses of Total Station or TST (total station Theodolite) which is an electronic/optical instrument used in modern surveying and building construction. The total station is an Electronic Theodolite (transit) integrated with an electronic distance meter (EDM) to read slope distances from the instrument to a particular point. Robotic total stations allow the operator to control the instrument from a distance via remote control. This eliminates the need for an assistant staff member as the operator holds the reflector and controls the total station from the observed point. The students were upgraded by learning about the Length calculation, Area calculation, Angle calculation, Missing line Method and plotting of foundational markings on field. It was a golden opportunity utilized by the graduating students for the fulfillment of their “Total Station Training Certification Program”.
