The department of Humanities of Sciences organized an awareness program on ‘Cyber Crime’, on 19th February, 2024 for the 1st B.Tech students. The police personnel from Moinabad police station gave this awareness program and educated the students on the subject. Mr.Kishan Singh, Sub Inspector of Police, Moinabad police station speaking on this occasion emphasized on the need of the hour. Mr.Shekar addressed the students at length and briefed them about the various crimes that can happen online. He gave various incidents that are regularly registered as cases and asked the students to exercise caution. He said that it is the educated who are often falling into the trap and are becoming victims rather than the uneducated. The awareness program helped the participants to understand the risks about various things like online shopping, cyber security, cybercrimes, bullying, online friendships and even about OTP’s.

The visibility of an individual online is prone to various risks unless one exercises a lot of caution and he warned the participants not to disclose their identity to strangers and share any sensitive or personal information with any online friends. He also told very clearly that the greed of securing easy and lump sum money is the main factor which lures an individual to become a victim to many cybercrimes. He briefed on how the links which we open many a number of times without a second thought and forward to our family and friends may lead to the storage of all our data into the servers which opens the pandora box for many crimes. His very lively and interactive session was much appreciated by the participants who thoroughly enjoyed the session which was useful and informative. Dr.Laxmi Narayan, HOD, H&S, felicitated the Sub Inspector of Police, Mr.Kishan Singh and Dr.K.Lalitha Bai proposed vote of thanks
