About CSE Department
Overview
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering has started its UG Program B.Tech(CSE)from the year 1999 with an intake of 40. At present the department has expanded to 240. M.Tech(CSE) was started in the year 2011 with an intake of 18. B.Tech(CSE) program first accredited by NBA in 2011. Later B.Tech(CSE) reaccredited in 2018. Presently the program is accredited by NBA under Tier-1 from 2022 for a period of three years. The Department of CSE is a hub of activities with students having the opportunity to truly engage themselves in active learning through effective participation in Workshops, Seminars, Certification Programs, Hackathons, Tech-Fests, and R&D initiatives. To enhance the knowledge levels of students through self learning the department has various Technical Clubs. The department focuses on students to advance, evolve and enhance Computer Science and Engineering fundamentals to build the intellectual capital of the society. We have consistently placed 90% of our students year by year. It leaves no stone unturned for creating seasoned engineers. Focus on research, hands-on learning approach and a team of expert faculty has created a reputation for the Department as one of the best for Computer Science and Engineering.

Dr D. Aruna Kumari

Head of the Department
Dr. D. Aruna Kumari is a distinguished academician with an extensive background in both academics and research. She completed her B.Tech in CSE from Shri Vishnu Engineering College, Bhimavaram, in 2005. Continuing her academic journey, she pursued her M.Tech in CSE from Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering and later earned her Ph.D. in CSE from K L University in 2014.
Her research endeavors have been marked by notable achievements and contributions. She secured a significant grant of Rs. 1,18,61,430/- from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) for a project aimed at enhancing agricultural sustainability through IoT technology for the social and economic empowerment of Scheduled Caste communities in Moinabad Mandal, Rangareddy District, Telangana State, in March 2023.
She successfully completed a project titled “Design and Development of an Effective Privacy Preserving Data Mining Technique for Cardiac, Cancer, and Diabetic Healthcare” funded by DST-SERB from 2015 to 2018, with a funding of Rs. 35,78,000/-. Dr. Aruna Kumari’s commitment to academic excellence is further evidenced by her receipt of seminar grants from DST for organizing the conferences/workshops. With an experience spanning 18 years in academia and research and she has organized one National and Two international conferences in the domain of Computational Intelligence and Data Engineering.
Her research output is impressive, with over 105 publications in various esteemed journals and conferences and published 5 patents. She is actively involved in guiding students in Global Certifications with Service Now, Salesforce and MongoDB. Furthermore, she is actively involved in guiding 3 research scholars and two Scholars were awarded Ph.D under K L University in the domain of Big Data Analytics.
She was a recipient of the Best Teacher Award in 2005. She has always been motivating faculty in research activities and publishing quality journal papers.
Despite her rigorous work ethic and self-discipline, she consistently demonstrates benevolence, care, and empathy towards both faculty and students. She serves as a source of moral and intellectual inspiration for both students and staff alike.

Innovative Teaching Techniques
Teaching is an art and science. Teaching is a process of imparting knowledge and skills. It is a systematic process based on some educational objectives to communicate.
The following innovative teaching methods are being adopted:
Interactive Learning
Interactive learning can take many different forms. Students strengthen their critical thinking and problem-solving skills using a much more holistic approach to learning. Interactive learning can take place across the curriculum with technology.
Collaborative Learning
“Collaborative learning is an umbrella term for a variety of educational approaches involving joint intellectual effort by students, or students and teachers together. Usually students are working in groups of two or more, mutually searching for understanding, solutions or meanings, or creating a product.
Collaborative learning activities vary widely, but most center on students’ exploration or application of the course material, not simply the teacher’s presentation or explication of it”.

Flipped Classroom
A flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom. It moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom. In a flipped classroom, students watch online lectures, collaborate in online discussions, or carry out research at home and engage in concepts in the classroom with the guidance of a mentor.
The flipped classroom intentionally shifts instruction to a learner-centered model in which class time explores topics in greater depth and creates meaningful learning opportunities, while educational technologies such as online videos are used to ‘deliver content’ outside of the classroom. In a flipped classroom, ‘content delivery’ may take a variety of forms.
Role Play
Role-playing is the changing of one’s behavior to assume a role, either unconsciously to fill a social role, or consciously to act out an adopted role.
- To refer to the playing of roles generally such as in a theatre, or educational setting;
- To refer to taking a role of an existing character or person and acting it out with a partner taking someone else’s role, often involving different genres of practice.
Think-Pair-Share
Think-Pair-Share (TPS) is a collaborative learning strategy in which students work together to solve a problem or answer a question about an assigned reading. This technique requires students to (1) think individually about a topic or answer to a question; and (2) share ideas with classmates. Discussing an answer with a partner serves to maximize participation, focus attention and engage students in comprehending the reading material.
Benefits:
- The Think-Pair-Share strategy is a versatile and simple technique for improving students’ reading comprehension.
- It gives students time to think about an answer and activates prior knowledge.
- TPS enhances students’ oral communication skills as they discuss their ideas with one another.
- This strategy helps students become active participants in learning and can include writing as a way of organizing thoughts generated from discussions.
Case Based Learning
This method is learner-centered with intense interaction between participants as they build their knowledge and work together as a group to examine the case
The instructor’s role is to facilitate the students collaboratively analyze and address problems and resolve questions
Interactive Learning
Interactive Learning is a hands-on, real-world approach to education ‘Inetractive learning actively engages the students in wrestling with the material
It reinvigorates the classroom for both students and faculty. Lectures are changed into discussion and students and teachers become partners in the journey of knowledge acquisition
Students strengthen their critical thinking and problem-solving skills using a much more holistic approach to learning
Open Educational Resources
Open educational resources (OER) are freely accessible, openly licensed documents and media that are useful for teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others.
Open educational resources include full courses, course materials, modules, textbooks, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools, materials, or techniques used to support access to knowledge.

Outcome of the Lab: By using the SQL commands such as DDL,DML,DCL able to create tables with integrity constraints ,manipulate data ,access data from database and able to design, implement pl/sql programs which includes procedures,cursors ,functions and triggers.
CN&OS Lab , III Yr-I Sem
In OS lab implements concepts of operating systems such as, CPU scheduling, process management,
memory management, file systems and deadlock handling using C language. Computer networks lab consists of layers , error detection and error correction algorithms and different routing algorithms to find the minimum distance among different routers.
Outcome of the Lab: Students able to implement scheduling algortims, deadlock handling, CRC algorithms, routing algorithms.
WT Lab, III Yr-I Sem

DM&CT Lab, III Yr-II Sem
Description:
The main objective of this DM lab is to impart the knowledge on how to implement classical models and algorithms in data warehousing and data mining by using WEKA Tool.In Real world data consists of noisy and inconsistent data due to their size so that data pre-processing is applied to remove data inconsistency. In Data mining Association rules are used to discover the related patterns in the given data, Classification techniques are used to find the model for the purpose of prediction and clustering is used for grouping the similar objects and in CASE tools using tools model the UML diagrams.
Outcome of the Lab: In DM lab mining algorithms as a component to the existing tools and able to apply mining techniques for realistic data and for case Tools illustrate /using various tools model the various uml diagrams.
IoT Lab (Professional Elective), IV Yr-I Sem
Description:IoT Lab helps the students in providing a good learning environment and also work with real time problems faced in day to day life. It also enhances collaborative learning and also will help in getting much knowledge in multidisciplinary streams irrespective of the course taken by them.
Outcome of the Lab: Each team coming up with some idea will are supposed to have a brain storming session and the idea has to be presented to the rest of the teams and then students start working with the design and also various components that are supposed to be used and any other cost reducing alternative which are present and then only the students work in a modular way and the final output is obtained.
Big Data Analytics Lab(Professional Elective), IV Yr-I Sem

Image Processing Using SCI Lab (Professional Elective), IV Yr-I Sem
Description:The main objective of this lab is to impart students the knowledge about:
Image formation and the role human visual system plays in perception of gray and color image data. Get broad exposure to and understanding of various applications of image processing in industry,medicine, and defense.
Signal processing algorithms and techniques in image enhancement and image restoration. Acquire an appreciation for the image processing issues and techniques and be able to apply these techniques to real world problems.
Outcome of the Lab: Students be able to conduct independent study and analysis of image processing problems and techniques.
MAD Lab, IV Yr-I Sem
Description:Specifically it is required to design and implement a system that consists mainly of a mobile client (MC) and a Emulator. MC will be written in XML while Emulator will be written in standard Java.It is to use a mobile phone emulator to develop and demonstrate the experiments.
Outcome of the Lab: In this lab, a student is expected to design, implement, document and present a mobile client/server system using standard Java and Andriod Application platform.
